Is the Herberger Theater Center taking steps due to current health concerns?
The Herberger Theater Center remains strongly committed to the health and safety of everyone who comes to the theater as a guest, performer, volunteer or staff associate. We continue to carefully monitor the local situation and the global situation regarding COVID-19, and are reviewing updates through Center for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization and the Arizona Department of Health Services.
In difficult times, we need the arts to entertain us and inspire us. With that in mind, performances are currently moving forward as scheduled. If the performing companies decide otherwise or we receive the recommendation to cancel events, we will prioritize the health of everyone by implementing and communicating appropriate changes that ensure a safe environment. In the event of a cancellation, we will notify all ticket holders by email and/or phone.
In response to current concerns, we continue to take extra precautionary measures by providing additional hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes throughout the building, particularly in high traffic areas. Our Associates are routinely disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, handles, elevator keypads, etc. and the overnight janitorial crew continue in their important role to maintain the cleanliness of the facility.
In addition to these measures, we continue to prioritize the health and safety of all who come here by actively promoting the following CDC guidance and recommendations:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. We have added some temporary signage in the restrooms throughout the facility to encourage everyone to do this.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue and then throw it away. This reduces the spread of viruses in the common areas. Then wash your hands.
- Refrain from touching your eyes, nose or mouth. It can be more difficult than we think. (We should periodically clean our phones with sanitizing wipes since they touch our hands and our faces!)
- We also highly encourage those who are sick or feel unwell to stay home. Please contact the Box Office regarding options for exchanging tickets for future performances.
Who is the authorized ticket agent for Herberger Theater Center?
TicketForce is the official ticket agent for the Herberger Theater Center. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 602.252.8497. The official website for the Herberger Theater is www.HerbergerTheater.org.
What happens if I purchase my ticket from an unauthorized seller (scalper)?
Be aware that the theater may refuse to honor a ticket known to have been acquired from an unauthorized source. Ticket brokers and agents – also known as scalpers, or touts – buy tickets to popular events in bulk, in advance, to resell later at a profit. Brokers have also been known to sell counterfeit and stolen tickets. While some brokers and agents are reputable and provide a service to the desperate, it is an expensive service and the buyer must beware. Known fraudulent scalping websites include “Secure Box Office” and “Tickets-Center.”
Are children allowed in the theater?
Babies in arms or children under the age of two (2) are not permitted in the theater. Children older than two (2) should be able to sit quietly in their own seats throughout a performance. If you are in doubt about bringing a child to any particular production, please ask before buying tickets. Please be aware that if you do bring a young child and that child creates any disturbance, you may be asked to leave the theater or may be re-seated to lessen the disturbance. Some individual shows, may set higher age limits; if so, this will be posted on our website.
Does my child need a ticket? Can he/she sit on my lap?
Both the Fire Code and theater insurance policies require everyone in a live theater audience, regardless of age, to have an assigned seat and a ticket. This is the case even if the child sits in your lap and not in his or her assigned seat.
What should I wear to the theater?
There is no formal dress code enforced in our theater. Most of the people you will see in the audience will probably be dressed in a “business casual” style.
How early must I arrive?
We suggest that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the show, but the lobby will open 60 minutes prior to the start of the show. The theater doors open for seating 30 minutes prior to the show.
What happens if I am late?
All performances begin promptly as scheduled. Latecomers will be admitted only at a suitable break in the performance, and seating location will be at the discretion of the management. If you are late, it may not be possible to seat you until the intermission; if the production has no intermission, you may not be admitted at all. Latecomers may watch the show on the monitor in the lobby.
Can I leave the theater and come back?
If you leave your seat during the performance, we will re-seat you only at a suitable break in the performance, which might not be until the intermission. Seating location will be at the discretion of the management.

Children, students and seniors may be eligible for a discount depending on the producing company of the show. It is always a good idea to inquire about this with our box office.

Can I take pictures of the show?
No photography of the show is permitted at any time. For most productions, professional production shots will be taken of the show for media purposes. These photos are often posted on the producing company’s social media pages or website.
Can I text or tweet during the show?
So as not to disturb others, please refrain from tweeting and texting during the show. When the curtain goes up, your device must be turned off. We do however encourage folks to tweet us pre and post show and during intermission @herbergertheatr
Can I bring my own food and drinks inside the venue?
Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the theater. A variety of snacks and drinks are available for purchase on site. Drinks with a lid may be taken into the theater. No food is permitted.
Can we come on stage/backstage after the show and meet the cast?
That would be lots of fun, but, unfortunately, no. Visitors are not permitted backstage; no one not in the cast or crew is permitted on stage. Many people go to the stage door after the show to see and meet cast members – and get autographs – but both the stage and the backstage area are strictly off-limits to anyone not directly involved with the production. This is not because we are mean, but is for reasons of safety (and insurance).
Are your theaters wheelchair-accessible?
There is wheelchair and assisted seating available in all of our theaters. For more details and to ensure you have an accessible seat, please speak with our box office directly at 602.252.8497
I am hearing-impaired. Does your theater offer amplification?

As noted on the website, some performing companies offer ASL interpretations and audio description of their shows. These specific performances will be noted on the website.

I’ve ordered email print-at-home tickets online. When can I expect to receive them?
Print-at-home tickets are sent to you as PDF attachments to an email and you should receive them almost immediately – certainly within a day of your order. If you have not received them by the next day, please call the box office.
Can someone else pick my tickets up at the box office for me?
Anyone collecting pre-purchased tickets at the box office must show ID and match the name the tickets were purchased under.
I don’t have a credit card. Where can I buy tickets for cash?
You can make cash payments at our theater box office.
Do I have to buy tickets in advance, or can I buy them when I come to the theater?
There is no requirement that you purchase advance tickets. You may buy your tickets at the box office as you enter the theater, but you will be gambling that there are still seats available.
