How did the musical evolve from its early days of minstrel shows and revues to its present sophisticated form? What are the landmarks along the way? The influences of composers, choreographers and stars on its progress? And how did the place of music change from ornamental to defining story and character, and taking its place in the “American Song Book?” With Joe Bousard at the piano, there will be a chance to sing some of the songs of Broadway.
