Presented by The Friendship Circle
April 30, 2014
The Friendship Circle cordially invites you to attend our annual Celebration of Friendship & Inspiration honoring our Teen Volunteers.
Presenting the Ruth Hoffman Fellowship awards. Featuring Tim Harris, owner of Tim’s Place. The famous quote from Walt Disney, “If you can dream it, you can do it” has been the driving force behind the life of Tim Harris. Born in 1986 with Down Syndrome, Tim’s life has been defined by exceeding expectations. In high school, Tim was elected Homecoming King by the highest margin of votes in school history. During college, he lived in the dorms and earned certificates in Food Service Office Skills and Restaurant Hosting.
Tim’s Place: World’s Friendliest Restaurant opened in October of 2010. This restaurant in Albuquerque where breakfast, lunch, and hugs are served daily. We are pleased to have Tim Harris here to talk about the power of inclusion, and how he was empowered to follow his dream to open his own restaurant.
The Friendship Circle extends a helping hand to families who have children with special needs and aims to involve them in a full range of social and educational experiences. The Circle’s unique formula introduces teenage volunteers to children through shared experiences where both are enriched. These teenagers are enriched by volunteering which enables them to reap the rewards of selfless giving.
