The Herberger Theater Center invites you to volunteer for its seventh annual Festival of the Arts on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Proceeds raised from the festival benefit the Herberger Theater’s Youth Arts Education and Outreach Programs.
To make the festival happen, we need help from community volunteers and organizations to help bring in the revelers! If you are interested in volunteering, please read the descriptions below and let us know if you would like to be part of the festivities. It’s sure to be a fun and art-filled day! FREE parking will be provided to all volunteers.
Volunteers are needed from 8:00am-5:00pm in the following areas:
- Backstage Runners and Check-In
- Vendor Check-In
- Film Shorts
- Set Up and Strike
Help us welcome festival guests! Working the two main entrances requires a friendly disposition to distribute programs, answer questions — and have fun.
Volunteers will admit other volunteers and festival participants at these tables (one located at each entrance). It will require welcoming participants, checking off names from a master list and giving out hand stamps. Volunteers working the Vendor Assistance area will escort vendors and artists to their assigned booth location.
Backstage Runners and Check-In
Volunteers for this job will need to be energetic, organized and outgoing! Stage runners will be stationed at Center Stage and Stage West. Their responsibility will be to keep track of the performance schedule, i.e., greet and gather talent at the appropriate time, and escort them to the stage.
Film Shorts Volunteers
Greet festival attendees and distribute materials. Runners will assist the film shorts coordinator with distribution of programs, seating attendees and other duties as assigned.
Wear something colorful and cool! November sounds like it should bring fall weather, but that’s not always the case in Arizona, so dress accordingly. And be sure to wear sun block and a hat! We’ll mostly be under canopies and have plenty of water on hand.
The Herberger Theater Festival of the Arts will take place inside the Herberger Theater Center and outdoors on the Herberger Plaza, located at 222 East Monroe Street in downtown Phoenix.
Anyone interested in volunteering MUST contact Valerie Monaco at 602-254-7399 x117 or email by October 1, 2016. Each volunteer is assigned to a specific position and shift in advance of the event. We will not be able to assign walk up volunteers to a shift on event day.
